£1,170
Total, excluding VAT£4,655

This price is firm within the limits set out here. Up to 6 m of connection into the existing gully is included, and anything beyond that is £330 per metre. If the existing gully turns out to be failing when we check it, we stop before connecting and the works to that point are £1,400. There is no allowance in the figure for what your video cannot show, which is why those limits are stated rather than buried.

What is and is not included

Included
  • Chapter 8 barriers and signage round the two EV bays and the working area, with a signed pedestrian route and a banksman whenever the excavator moves near parked cars
  • RAMS and permit to dig issued to the club before we start
  • We lift the grating on the existing gully and check it before connecting. If it is obviously failing we stop there and agree the next step with you
  • CAT and Genny scan of the dig and the connection route, and hand digging round the EV charger and lighting cables
  • Saw-cut, break out and excavate at the back corner of the EV bay, where the water collects
  • New trapped concrete gully pot, 450 dia x 900, bedded and surrounded in concrete
  • New ductile iron grating and frame to D400, BS EN 124, set to the low point of the bay
  • 150 mm connection of up to 6 m, cored into the existing gully pot above its trap with a flexible connector
  • Pipe bedded and surrounded in single-size stone, trench backfilled in compacted layers of Type 1
  • Tarmac reinstatement in AC 10, laid hot in two lifts to full depth, each lift rolled, with every cut edge sealed
  • All arisings removed from site in a skip stood in a coned bay, and the bays left clean and open
Excluded
  • A camera survey and jetting of the existing drain. We check it by eye; if you want the run proved we can arrange it and price it separately
  • Repainting the EV bay lining
  • Connection pipe beyond the 6 m included, at £330 per metre
  • Repair, relining or replacement of the existing gully or its outlet if it is found defective
  • A grated channel across the bays and resetting existing gully gratings, if the next heavy rain shows they are needed
  • Drainage of the bin yard. Its water should go to the foul drain rather than surface water; we can price that separately
  • Diversion or protection of any buried service found, and any statutory undertaker charges
  • Charges from the EV charge point operator for isolating the chargers
  • Out-of-hours, evening and weekend working. The price assumes two weekdays from 07:00
  • Tar-bound or contaminated arisings. Priced as inert: the car park is recent
  • Welfare unit. We assume the crew can use the club's toilet facilities
  • VAT, charged at the standard rate

Before we start

What we need from you
RFI-001 · Client contact
Please confirm the name and email of the person at the club we should deal with, and who approves the order.
RFI-002 · Payment and onboarding
Please confirm your payment terms and whether AIM needs to be set up on your approved-contractor system before starting. We have assumed 30 days from invoice.
RFI-003 · Car park status
Please confirm the car park is private to the club and not adopted by Midlothian Council. If it is adopted, a road opening permit and a heavier reinstatement specification apply.
RFI-004 · Defects period
Who built the car park and roughly when was it handed over? If it is still inside the original contractor's defects period, the flooding may be theirs to put right at no cost to you.
RFI-005 · Working days and facilities
We plan two weekday working days from 07:00 with the two EV bays closed. Please confirm that suits, and that the crew can use the club's toilet facilities.
RFI-006 · EV charge point operator
Please let us know who operates the EV chargers, so the chargers nearest the dig can be isolated while we work.
RFI-007 · Bin yard
Water from the bin yard should drain to the foul sewer rather than surface water. Would you like us to look at that and price it separately?
Technical queries
TQ-001 · Existing gully depth and distance
Could someone lift the grating on the gully at the end of the island and tell us roughly how deep the outlet pipe sits, and the distance to the corner of the EV bay?
Up to 6 m of connection is included. Beyond that it is £330 per metre.
TQ-002 · Existing drain history and drawings
Has that gully ever backed up or been cleaned out? Do you hold drainage drawings for the car park, for example in the developer's handover pack?
A new gully only helps if the drain it empties into can take the water. Our check is by eye; proving the run with a camera is a separate cost. If it is obviously failing we stop, and the works to that point are £1,400.
TQ-003 · Cable drawings
Do you hold as-built drawings for the EV charger and lighting cables in the car park?
The dig sits at the charger corner. Scanning and hand digging are included; a diversion is not.
TQ-004 · Surfacing build-up
Do you have the car park construction details, meaning the surfacing and sub-base thickness?
Reinstatement is priced as about 100 mm of AC 10 laid in two lifts, matched to what we find on break-out.
